Antonio Conte makes Premier League history

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has broke a Premier League record by winning the Manager of the Month award for the third time in a row now. He clinched the accolade in October and November before this, continuing his 100 per cent winning run on and on through these past three months.

The Blues manager ended the year with a magnificent term, winning all six games of December with a goal difference of stunning 13-3.

Many thought Chelsea’s winning streak was set to end once they faced Manchester City away at the start of December, believing that they couldn’t go on for yet another month.

Chelsea defeated Manchester City 3-1 at Etihad Stadium.

Things turned out differently, as Conte guided Chelsea to an impressive 3-1 victory over Pep Guardiola’s Citizens with goals from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard, continuing their charge on top of the table.

The great visit at the Etihad was followed by three consecutive 1-0 victories – first over West Brom at the Bridge, then away at Sunderland, and finally at Crystal Palace, where Diego Costa’s goal was Chelsea’s first headed one this season.

The win at Manchester was followed by three successive 1-0 victories.

On Boxing Day, the Blues comfortably hammered Bournemouth 3-0, and went on to score four past Stoke City in an exciting thriller which ended 4-2 for the West London side at Stamford Bridge.

Despite the superb 13-game winning run, 2017 started quite differently for the Blues, as they were (finally) defeated, with Tottenham impressively proving to be the better side in a 2-0 victory at White Hart Lane.

Chelsea returned to winning ways with a 4-1 triumph over Peterborough in the FA Cup third round, and are now set to face Leicester away this Saturday evening.
