Antonio Conte holds talks with Serie A striker over possible Chelsea move

Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Sassulo star Domenico Berardi, according to Italian newspaper Calciomercato.

Blues boss Antonio Conte met the player this winter and held talks with him over a possible move to the West London side, and Chelsea have sent their scouts to watch the player in numerous occasions in the past month.

Regardless of his young age, the 22-year-old forward has already scored 51 league goals for the Neroverdi, and has attracted interest from other Serie A sides including Inter, Milan and Roma.

The former Juventus player suffered a heavy injury on the second matchday of the campaign only to return recently and perform sublimely.

Berardi was given the chance to return to Juve back in 2015 when the side were looking to trigger his €25m buy-back clause, but he decided to stay as he wanted to be guaranteed a place in the starting line-up.

He’s reportedly available for around £21m, but it’ll be seen whether a transfer will materialize before next Tuesday when the January transfer window comes to a close.
