Chelsea reportedly long-term admirers of versatile Italy international

If recent reports are to be believed, Chelsea are interested in signing the entirety of the Serie A and Italian national team. Since Antonio Conte took the reigns at Stamford Bridge, papers have continually linked us to Italian-based players.

There is now a new name in the mix; Marco Parolo. Calciomercato cite newspaper Corriere dello Sport who claim that Chelsea are long-term admirers of the midfielder. Calciomercato note that Parolo can play in both the attacking and deeper areas of the midfield.

This does very much seem like one of the most unlikely rumours of recent times. Parolo is 31-years-old, adding him into a midfield which is already stacked with quality would not be in keeping with the club’s recent recruitment policy.

It would make a lot more sense to give Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Nathaniel Chalobah or Lewis Baker a role in the first-team squad; opposed to signing a player who is already into his thirties.
