Cesc Fabregas linked with shock return to former club

Cesc Fabregas bagged a typically brilliant assist during our 3-1 victory over Manchester City yesterday. A perfectly executed over-the-top pass for Diego Costa, it is the sort of quality we have become quite accustomed to from our Spanish midfield maestro.

Fabregas has been very much out-of-favour under the management of Antonio Conte, and that has sparked plenty of exit rumours. None more bizarre than this, however, as the Express report that Arsenal are interested in re-signing their former captain.

The Express believe that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is looking for midfield reinforcements after losing Santi Cazorla to a long-term injury. They note that he is looking into making an offer for the out-of-favour Chelsea star.

Fabregas is no longer any sort of a fan favourite at the Emirates. His return to the Premier League with Chelsea and Wenger’s arch-nemesis Jose Mourinho looked to have burned any bridges between the two parties. This latest report suggests that may not be the case.
