Branislav Ivanovic linked with shock loan move to London rivals

Branislav Ivanovic’s time at Chelsea appears to be coming to an end. After nine years and countless memories, it seems unlikely that the 32-year-old will be handed an extension to his current deal.

Antonio Conte has opted to use Victor Moses at right-wing-back, which has blocked Ivanovic’s route into the first-team in it’s entirety. The Serb could now look to leave in a bid to find regular first-team football.

According to the Daily Star, Crystal Palace may well be the side to rescue him from his Chelsea exile. The tabloid believe that Alan Pardew is weighing up a loan move for the defender in the January transfer window.

The Daily Star also note that Ivanovic has options elsewhere, but it is believed that he is not willing to deracinate his family in the middle of the season, and so a move across London could be an attractive option. His experience would undoubtedly be beneficial to the Eagles in their bid to avoid relegation.

It will be sad to see Ivanovic depart, whether it be in January or at the end of his contract in the summer. He has been an exemplary servant to our football club.
