Branislav Ivanovic to leave Chelsea for Juventus?

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has fallen down in Antonio Conte’s pecking order and hasn’t made a start for the club since the Blues’ humiliating 3-0 defeat against Arsenal in September. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, which means he can negotiate a new deal with a foreign club from January onward.

According to Daily Mail the big Serbian is intensively being monitored by reign Serie A champions Juventus, who are looking for options to cover their injured key players Leonardo Bonucci and Dani Alves in defence this January.

The Italian club believe a player of Ivanovic’s caliber would suit perfectly for their league, as the way Juventus lines up is much more friendly to the 32-year-old’s lack of pace.

Juventus are currently without Bonucci who is ruled out for three months, while Dani Alves broke his leg and Mehdi Benatia is likely to head into the African Cup of Nations with Morocco in January. Questions are also being asked about Giorgio Chiellini’s fitness and Daniele Rugani’s experience in the heart of Juve’s defence.

Premier League sides are also showing interest on Ivanovic, but it’s believed that the veteran defender could stay at Stamford Bridge to fight for his place in the starting line-up, and help his side to their sixth title in the top-flight.
