Chelsea target reveals he dreams of playing in the Premier League

Chelsea have been continually linked to Roma centre-back Antonio Rudiger over the past year or so. It very much looked as though the German centre-back was bound for Stamford Bridge in the summer, before an anterior cruciate ligament rupture ended our hopes of signing him.

Rudiger now back to full fitness, and the rumours are beginning to resurface. The Metro cite Calciomercato who quote Rudiger in revealing that though he is happy at the Stadio Olympico, he would very much like to play in the Premier League one day: ā€œIā€™m happy at AS Roma at the moment, but my dream is playing in England one day.ā€

The prospect of adding Rudiger to our defensive ranks is undoubtedly an exciting one. We already have Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen on our books, two of the most promising young centre-backs in world football. Adding Rudiger into the equation would leave us with a back-three that could grow together into something truly special.

For now, though, we are in no dire need of defensive reinforcements. Our current trio have conceded just two goals in eight Premier League games.
