According to today’s transfer talk, Antonio Conte is ready to attempt a huge £50m offer for Napoli center-back Kalidou Koulibaly to finally land the Senegalese international after several rebuffed bids this summer.
However, the Blues won’t be going to start negotiations with the Serie A side this January claims The Sun, as the player will be missing a spell of club football due to the African Cup of Nations in winter. Chelsea are planning to seal the deal next summer, when there will actually be use of signing the player.
Koulibaly signed a new five-year deal with the Partenopei side last September to keep him at the club until 2021 and raise his asking price to £70m. Despite the high demands, Chelsea won’t stand back from making their everything to lure the 25-year-old towards Stamford Bridge.
Captain John Terry is expected to leave his childhood club this summer, so a new recruitment to Chelsea’s defensive ranks would be strongly needed.
