Chelsea transfer latest: £26.7m Frenchman on Conte wishlist, £8.9m bid for Brazilian, Blues target injured but that could be good news

We round up the latest Chelsea transfer news as the Blues are linked with talent from La Liga and South America.

Reports in Spain are linking former Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven N’Zonzi with a possible January move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has asked Blues owner Roman Abramovich to try to sign N’Zonzi this winter, according to Don Balon, who claim that the 27-year-old Frenchman has a €30m (£26.7m) release clause in his current contract at La Liga outfit Sevilla.

Meanwhile, the Italian press are crediting Conte with an interest in 19-year-old Brazil wonderkid Thiago Maia (pictured).

Calcio Mercato exclusive reports that a €10m (£8.9m) Chelsea bid is ready to be made to Santos, with Conte said to have ‘fallen in love’ with the teenager.

Calcio Mercato add that Juventus are also keen on Maia, but that Conte’s Blues lead the race for the player’s signature.

Finally, reported Chelsea target Ben Davies is likely to be out for the next few weeks with an ankle injury, per the Daily Mail.

The injury could be good news for Chelsea, though, because Spurs defender Davies – who was named as a £20m Chelsea target by The Sun last month – now looks set to miss Tottenham’s Premier League trip to Stamford Bridge on November 26.

Davies is not Tottenham’s first-choice left-back, but his spell on the sidelines could force Spurs into overplaying Danny Rose, who himself has only recently come back from injury.

Spurs will need all the help they can get when they visit Stamford Bridge, where they have not won in over 26 years.
