Former Manchester United and current Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has told on an interview to Coach Mag that the toughest opponent he has ever played against is the ex-Chelsea defender Ashley Cole.
The duo met for a several times in the Premier League when the two still played in the campaign, and were also put against each other in the Champions League and on international stage.
And despite facing all kind of high profile defenders during his career, Ronaldo still rates Cole the highest of them all.
Over the years I had some great battles with Ashley Cole, he does not give you a second to breathe.
He was such a tenacious player when he was at his peak, quick, tough in the tackle. You knew it would never be an easy game.
Cole moved to Chelsea from London rivals Arsenal in the hope of winning the Champions League with the Blues – which he did – but currently represents the MLS side LA Galaxy in the United States.
