Chelsea rejected deadline day bid for Diego Costa

Many have spoken how Chelsea’s ability to retain Diego Costa at the club was the best signing of the summer, and it couldn’t much evident how that’s true.

According to reports in France, Chelsea turned down a deadline day bid from Paris Saint-Germain for the Brazilian-born Spain international.

Antonio Conte rejected the move as he was afraid of not being able to get a quality replacement in time, and it turns out that the Italian made a perfectly firm choice.

Costa has been splendid for Chelsea so far, as the 27-year-old has scored five goals in five games for the Blues this season.

While Costa’s transfer didn’t pull through, David Luiz completed his return to the Bridge after PSG agreed to sell the Brazilian back to where they originally bought him from, for an offer around £34m.

The Ligue 1 champions lived in the hope of strengthening their attacking force after losing their star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United in the summer.

The Blues, though, rebuffed the approach, leaving Unai Emery with Edinson Cavani as his only front-man until January at the earliest.
