Chelsea reignite interest in Bonucci

According to Daily Star, Chelsea and Manchester City have reignited their interest on Juventus center-back Leonardo Bonucci, and are ready to battle for the Italian defender’s signature in January.

Bonucci was the subject of interest for both Premier League teams this summer, but decided to stay in Serie A giants Juventus after winning the fifth successive league title with the Turin side.

The 29-year-old will have another decision to make in the new year’s time, as both Pep Guardiola and Antonio Conte see him as the missing piece from their defensive ranks.

Guardiola’s City defence is still struggling with captain Vincent Kompany’s injury, while Chelsea have let in seven goals in their last three Premier league matches.

A problem for both parties could be Juventus’ high rating on the center-half, as the club are likely to demand at least £50m for the Italy international.

Bonucci to Mediaset Premier to have been tempted by the interest from the Premier League this summer, but is only thinking about Juventus at the moment.

If I said that I wasn’t tempted this summer by an offer from England, above all for the coach that wanted me, then that would be a lie.

But Juventus is my home and I am happy to have remained. My dream was to win with this shirt and now I am here, ready to improve as a player and challenge myself to make this team become a legend.
