Chelsea submit new £67 million bid for Lukaku

Chelsea have submitted an £67 million bid for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, according to sources in Italy.

The Belgian, who left Chelsea to join the Merseyside club for £28 million in 2014, is apparently keen to return to Stamford Bridge and is considering to hand in a transfer request to force the move—reported by Standard Sport.

Everton want £75 million for Lukaku and the Blues “have offered £72 million plus bonuses”. It is a very similar situation to the John Stones saga last year, with the Englishman staying at The Toffees the end result. It is understood that the club are aware that it could take all August to sign the prolific No.9.

According to the Telegraph, French striker Loic Remy could prove as a makeweight in the deal, either included in the deal for Lukaku or sold separately to fund some of the money for the deal. Oscar could be another player that could be offloaded to fund the move.

Although the price is exorbitant, even by the standards of today market, Chelsea would get themselves an incredibly prolific 23-year-old striker in the form of Lukaku.

Lukaku scored a wonderful solo-goal against Chelsea in the quarter-final of the FA Cup last season, and has scored 119 career goals already.
