Chelsea in Garay talks

Having failed to acquire their number one target Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, Chelsea have sent representatives to Russia in hope of opening negotiations with Zenit St. Petersburg over the potential acquisition of Argentina international, Ezequiel Garay.

According to Sovsport in Russia, Antonio Conte is looking to add a central defender to his squad before Wednesday nights deadline, and the 29-year-old has emerged as fresh candidate for the role.

Garay has been in Russia since he signed for Zenit from Benfica in 2014, and has established himself as one of the best defenders in the league under the management of former Chelsea manager, Andre Villas-Boas, and now under Mircea Lucescu.

No fee has been mentioned, but with the Defender having three years left on his contract and Zenit currently in negotiations with Anderlecht over the potential sale of Nicolas Lombaerts, selling Garay may not be too high on their to do -list.
