John Obi Mikel donates $30k to Nigeria’s Olympic Team

It’s been a very different morning for John Obi Mikel with his Olympic squad compared to his Chelsea team-mates who went on to win the first match of the International Champions Cup over Liverpool 1-0.

Mikel as the captain of Nigeria’s football squad in the summer Olympics in Rio has decided to donate $30,000 for the team as they were left abandoned by their investors, African Football reports.

On Wednesday, coach Samson Siasia had sacked many authorities who were meant to come for rescue financially, but claims he still has five month’s salaries yet to be paid.

There was an unnamed source who picked up the bills and funded the team for the first 10 days, but now as they’ve also given up on the team, Chelsea great John Obi Mikel has stepped in.
