Blaise Matuidi angling PSG exit as Chelsea attracts interest

Blaise Matuidi’s name has been on the French press’ lips during the past few days as the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is looking to leave the Ligue 1 champions this summer.

L’Equipe have today linked the 29-year-old to a move to England, as the French media outlet believe there are many options for him as Chelsea and Manchester United are both following his situation.

Juventus have named Matuidi as their number one target to replace Man United bound Paul Pogba, but PSG are yet to receive any offers for the international box-to-box midfielder.

Should Juventus look elsewhere, Chelsea are open to match Matuidi’s staggering €800,000-a-month salary and table an offer for the Frenchman, who is reportedly available for a price between €20m and €30m.

Manchester United are close on completing a deal for Pogba, but in case the deal falls through, Matuidi is expected to be a plan B for them.

Blaise Matuidi and Paul Pogba could be both heading to England this summer.

Talking ahead of an International Champions Cup win over AC Milan last night, new PSG boss Unai Emery publicly admitted that Matuidi’s situation at the club is at stake, but that he hopes to be able to convince him to stay.

We’re waiting for him (Matuidi). He is a great footballer and logically I don’t want to dispense with great footballers.

We’ve spoken about how there are a lot of midfielders and that there could be a situation in a given moment that the player could leave, but of course, I as coach am behind him.

The circumstances could change that, but in principle, it’s not what I want.

What is clear is that Matuidi is very attracted by the chance of playing in the Premier League, and is angling a move away from Paris just like his teammate Edinson Cavani, who The Blues are also keen on.
