Youth international set to reject England

Chelsea youth international Ola Aina is ready to snub England and commit his international future to the Super Eagles according to owngoalnigeria.com.

The talented full-back has had an up and down season as he is yet to make his senior debut, despite winning the UEFA Youth League for the second year running, putting in consistent performances along the way.

A source close to Aina has stated that he has often spoken to current Nigeria captain and Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel about the possibility of representing the nation of his origin and is keen on the idea.

Aina have a strong bond with Nigeria and he is a big fan of the Super Eagles thanks to his parents, he has on more than one occasion approached Mikel to ask questions about the team, he will play for Nigeria if he get a call-up

Aina may follow the same footsteps as Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi, who rejected the opportunity to play for England to represent the country of his birth and has already earned himself 3 caps for the national team.

At this moment in time, Aina may need to focus on his club career as his contract expires this summer and is yet to sign a new one despite there being a new offer on the table. Although the club rates him highly, Aina is aware of the limited amount of opportunities he may receive next season with a number of senior players ahead of him.
