Mitchell Beeney joins Crawley Town on loan

It has been officially announced this morning that youth goalkeeper Mitchell Beeney will spend the first few months of the 2016/17 season on loan at League 2 side Crawley Town.

The 20-year-old spent a short period of time out on loan to Newport County last season where he made 4 appearances and kept a clean sheet on his professional debut, but his time in Wales ended abruptly after his partner put the club on blast on Twitter after Beeney was left on the Bench against Exeter.

Mitchell Beeney joined Chelsea’s youth ranks in 2007 from Gillingham along with his brother Jordan. Their father Mark Beeney has been serving as the youth and reserve goalkeeping coach since 2001.

During Beeney’s time in Chelsea’s youth ranks, he’s accumulated 101 appearances in goal and has won the FA Youth Cup and the under-21 Premier League.

The goalkeeper’s loan move at Broadfield Stadium will conclude on January 3rd 2017.
