Inter Milan set to rival Chelsea for Stephen Lichtsteiner

Inter Milan are set to rival Chelsea for Juventus full-back Stephen Lichtsteiner, according to Daily Express.

Lichtsteiner has just one year remaining on his contract with Juventus and has been linked with a move to Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and now Inter Milan.

Last month the Swiss newspaper Blick claimed that the defender’s move to Stamford Bridge is ‘more likely’ to happen than a switch to PSG, and stated that the West London club had offered him a three-year deal.

Inter were bought out by Chinese Consortium Suning Commerce Group (CCSCG) this week in a £590million deal. It is said that the club now plans to give strong competition to current Serie A champions Juventus and will make a big number of signings this summer.

The Blues already have Branislav Ivanovic in the right back’s position, but Conte is planning to play him in the heart of the defence instead.

Another reason for Lichtsteiner to leave Juventus is the imminent signing of Dani Alves who has announced he will be leaving FC Barcelona after 8 fantastic seasons with the Catalan club.

Lichtsteiner was a top performer for Conte during their time together at Juventus, and could be a smart piece of business from Chelsea.
