Courtois: I’m already at a beautiful club

The 2015/16 Premier League season will be a campaign that Courtois and Chelsea will want to forget, as the blues finished 10th in the table after winning the league title the season prior. Due to the woeful season, transfer speculation surrounded the Blues with many of their key players being linked with moves away from the club this summer.

Courtois has been amongst the speculation, being linked with a move back to Madrid but Chelsea will want to keep their star goalkeeper after Petr Cech left to join Arsenal last summer. There is currently a £73 million price tag on the Belgians head to ward off any potential suitors.

“It’s hard to say. I don’t think I will end my career here,”

In an interview with Sporza, Courtois made it clear that he didn’t have a ‘favourite’ club growing up as he watched a host of clubs throughout Europe.

“I didn’t have [a favourite club growing up]. In Spain I watched a lot of Madrid and Barca.

“In Germany I watched Bayern and Dortmund, in England, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, and in Italy Juventus and Milan.

“There wasn’t one favourite but I always wanted to play at those clubs.

“I don’t necessarily have a desire to play there, I’m already at a beautiful club, Chelsea which I always admired but we will see.”

The 24-year-old also discussed the recent political change in Britain and how it may affect the Premier League.

The pound has already fallen in value. It will have a big impact on the economy and everyone who plays or wants to play in England.

There is also the rule that you have to play 70-75% of the matches for your national team to get a work permit in England. That used to be only for non-Europeans. If this rule is not modified, the Premier League will have issues.
