Fernando Torres reflects on his dark days at Chelsea

Ahead of an intriguing Champions League final this weekend, the former Blue Fernando Torres has opened up about his Chelsea career that went merely wrong before moving back to Atletico Madrid in 2015.

The Spain international though has rejuvenated himself in his boyhood club, and is now fighting for yet another European trophy when the season draws to close.

Despite winning a pile of trophies with the West London outfit after making a record breaking £50m move to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool, the player says he never felt like being a part of the team during his time at the club.

The 32-year-old told Daily Mail he doesn’t really look into his bad Chelsea days, and is feeling better than ever at the moment in Atleti.

I won it with Chelsea, but I was not in a good place. I did not feel I was being treated well at the time – I felt lost.

I don’t want to talk about those moments. My career is going so well, and I feel so at home and full of confidence, that I do not want to relive those days.

I have never been happier. I love being back [at Atletico], and hope I can stay. I am one of the senior players now and give advice where I can, but I am also learning from the younger players. You can feed off their energy.

Torres’ heart may not have been with him when he and the rest of the Blues beat Bayern München at their own backyard in 2012 to win the club’s first ever Champions League trophy, but this time it will be different.
