AS Roma monitoring Chelsea defender

AS Roma are interested in signing the Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic this summer, the Gazzetta World reports.

Following Roma’s club director Walter Sabatini’s recent visit to England, the Italian side are weighing their options for the Chelsea vice-captain.

Branislav Ivanovic has been captaining the Chelsea side this season while John Terry has been out injured.

It’s reported that Sabatini’s reason for the visit was to discuss Mohammed Salah’s current state at the club and Radjan Nainggolan’s possible move to London, whilst talks were also held concerning Ivanovic.

It’s still uncertain if the Big Serbian will be included in the incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte’s plans for next season, which might pursuit Sabatini to tempt Ivanovic to Italy before the Italian’s arrival.

Ivanovic has made 38 appearances for Chelsea this season, but has lacked discipline alongside the other Blues players on their disappointing defence for the Premier League title.
