Verratti, Matuidi and Luiz doubts for PSG first leg

After the transfer window closed on January 1st, there was an update on the squad lists for the Champions League teams.

Chelsea loanee Radamel Falcao was removed from the Champions League squad list after failing to impress the interim manager Guus Hiddink with his dry performance of scoring only once during his time in the Blues and suffering a large amount of injuries.

Despite the Colombian’s departure, Chelsea’s January window signings Alexandre Pato and Matt Miazga were both registered to take part in the campaign.

Kurt Zouma’s heavy landing over his knee on Sunday’s rivalry against Manchester United places the Frenchman on the sidelines for 6 months due to an ACL injury, but luckily for Chelsea he seems to be the only one set to miss the game as Loic Remy should be fit in time from his calf/shin injury.

Ramires was, obviously, removed from the squad following his move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has told the media Marco Verratti is ruled out of the Champions League round-of-16 clash against Chelsea due to an unfortunate groin injury.

The 23-year-old has said to be fighting for an early return to be able to play in the fixture, but according to ESPN, he’s not the only Parisian on the verge of missing the tie at Parc des Princes, as Blaise Matuidi and former Chelsea defender David Luiz are also reportedly doubtful to appear.

Neither of the teams are suffering from suspensions in the campaign.

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are to meet for the third time in a row in the knockout stage of the Champions League making the fixture more and more vital between the two teams.
