Shanghai Shenhua to bid £11m for Remy

Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua are weighting up an £11m bid for Chelsea striker Loic Remy according to Express.

The Frenchman has been suffering from several injuries recently watching most of the games either on the sidelines or from the bench with in-form Diego Costa firmly grasping his place as the front man in the starting line-up.

Chelsea’s interim coach Guus Hiddink is reluctant to let the former Newcastle man go, despite the availability of loanees Radamel Falcao and Brazilian Alexandre Pato, who recently signed for the club from Corinthians on a 6-month loan deal.

Loic Remy was close to move to Leicester City in January and is currently seeking to get more playing time in order to confirm his place in the Euro 2016.

Over the recent months many players worldwide have been attracted by the chance to play in Asia, with the Chinese Super League clubs winning bid wars for world-class players such as Jackson Martinez, Alex Texeira and former Chelsea man Ramires.

Shanghai Shenhua were the forerunners of the ‘Chinese football revolution’ as in 2012 the club happened to sign a few big-name players like the former Chelsea attackers Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba.

Chelsea signed Loic Remy for £10.5m from Queens Park Rangers in August 2014, and has 2 years left on his contract with The Blues.
