Mourinho tells his friends he’s heading to Manchester United

José Mourinho has told his friends that he has landed the Manchester United job for next season.

Despite under fire manager Louis Van Gaal insists he’d be replaced, the former Chelsea boss seems confident to take over at Old Trafford next season describing the move as a “done deal” to his closest friends, according to Daily Star.

United being unable to beat Chelsea in Sunday’s 1-1 tie at Stamford Bridge left the Red Devils dissatisfied on the 5th place in the league table with 6 points away from their main rivals Manchester City one place above and 12 points away from the league leaders Leicester City.

The United icon Michael Carrick believes the draw at Chelsea doesn’t pull them off the top four finish just yet, also reminding how the team still has FA Cup and Europa League trophies to reach for.

If we’d have gone to Chelsea and got a win we’d have been in good shape, but it wasn’t to be and it makes things harder for us.

There is plenty to play for this month and of course plenty of points to play for in the league. We’re not giving anything up just yet.

As well, failing to reach the top four and qualify back to the Champions League would leave a big hole in United’s balance sheet financially.

In 2012 Manchester United sacked the former Real Sociedad manager David Moyes after it became clear that they wouldn’t qualify to the Europe’s elite campaign for the becoming season.

Mourinho isn’t the only rumoured manager to take over at United next season as the club has reportedly opened talks with the Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as well.

According to bookmakers BetVictor the Portuguese coach is just 1/5 to be United’s next manager.
