La Capitale: Hazard interested to play under Zidane

Eden Hazard told La Capitale how he’s keen to play under his childhood idol Zinedine Zidane, but is happy to stay in London.

The Belgian has been fairly praised by the new manager of Real Madrid, and it’s not the first time the player’s been linked to Santiago Bernabeu.

Hazard has revealed his dream manager to play under, but also hevily states he’s not keen to force a transfer despite the common interest between the Spanish club and the player.

It is always nice to hear that the player who I admired during my childhood is talking about me.

I have always appreciated Zidane. I know him well as a player, but I don’t know him as a coach, although he has made a good start at the Santiago Bernabeu. I still have a contract with Chelsea, though, and I am feeling very well here.

Of course I would like to work with him. I watched him for hours on the television and online when I was a child. I always talked about Zidane. But I can only repeat that I am happy at Chelsea, so this is not something that is an issue now.

Zidane has been talking about me for a few years now. That is proof that I have been doing well. It’s great to hear someone like him praise you. But I am not thinking about. It’s good to be praised, but I am focused on playing football.

Hazard has underperformed heavily since the season changed only scoring his first Chelsea goal this season on last Sunday’s FA Cup tie against MK Dons, where the Blues took over the Championship side 5-1.

Real Madrid were recently banned by FIFA becoming unable to register any new players till the 2017 summer window by FIFA, so even if Hazard would end up signing a contract with Los Blancos, would the player have to spend his time somewhere else till the ban expires.

The 25-year-old attacker has a contract with Chelsea until June 2020.
