Christensen to be recalled – no debut for Miazga

After the Borussia Monchengladbach loanee Andreas Christensen’s fine performances for the German club have promoted the Danish center-back to their starting line-up, the team are desired to sign the youngster on permanent basis.

However Christensen’s host club Chelsea will want to hold onto the player as they see him fighting for a place in the starting line-up this summer.

According to Daily Mail the Monchengladbach boss Andre Schubert has described his eagerness to sign the 19-year-old, just like they signed Thorgan Hazard earlier in the season.

Our intention is to try and get into talks with Chelsea in the summer. Andreas fulfills everything we’ve seen in him. And we are delighted that we were able to take him on loan without any ifs and buts.

The young Dane is currently on his first year of the 2-year long loan deal with the German club and told the newspaper he doesn’t want to rush on things just yet:

I am very happy. I will give it my best in the two years here, and see what the future has in store for me. It’s of no use to return [to Chelsea] if I don’t get any playing time there. A lot can happen.

Christensen scored twice in their 5-1 win over Werder Bremen last Friday claiming the Man of the Match award after a sensational performance at the Stadion im Borussia-Park.

Liverpool, Manchester City and United are also keeping an eye on Christensen’s development.

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink is under some pressure after losing Kurt Zouma until the end of the season following his knee injury, as the Dutchman only has John Terry, Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic (if rotated) to play in the center defense.

Chelsea won the battle for the highly rated 20-year-old Matt Miazga arriving from New York Red Bulls, but according to Daily Star the Blues are unlikely to give the USA international a chance for his debut this season.

Despite the reports Miazga believes he’s capable of proving himself in the Premier League, saying:

As a centre-back you have to have an aerial presence and win a lot of headers, and my job is to win duels and not let opponents score, so every time I try to get a good tackle in and make my opponent know that I am there and it is not going to be an easy time trying to go by me.

Everyone knows the league is very competitive and any team can beat any team. Everyone is going all out to win their games so it is a very exciting league and I look forward to it.
