Chelsea target Griezmann wants a Premier League move

Chelsea have gained a heavy boost on their pursuit for Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann according to Mail.

The France international has reportedly told his closest friends he’ll be favoring a move to the Premier League if he decides to leave Spain.

The Blues have had Griezmann as a transfer target for some time now and even approached to sign him last summer but ended up getting warded off.

Griezmann happens to be Atletico’s most valuable player in the club’s history as the 24-year-old’s release clause was raised from €65m to €80m last August to shun the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea.

The deal could still be very unlikely, not only because of Griezmann’s high release clause, but also because of Atletico Madrid’s current transfer ban meaning Diego Simeone’s side wouldn’t be able to find a replacement for the Frenchman for 12 months.

Chelsea though are ready to go for the attacker once again, and this time it seems he’s ready to come.

Griezmann has been playing in Spain since 2005 with boyhood club Real Sociedad, scoring 34 goals in 58 appearances since joining Los Rojiblancos in 2014.

Chelsea are not the only Premier League club keen to lure the player as Manchester City and Manchester United are also both interested to bring the Atletico star to England.
