Hiddink lined up for Chelsea return

Ex-Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink is being lined up as interim Blues boss for the second time following the sacking of Jose Mourinho earlier today.

The Dutchman first took temporary charge at Stamford Bridge following the sacking of Brazilian manager Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2009, winning 11 of the 13 Premier League games he managed.

Chelsea also won the FA cup under Hiddink and reached the Champions League semi-finals where they controversially lost out to Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona.

Although popular with the fans following his stint at the Bridge, Hiddink would face an uphill task in winning over the Chelsea faithful following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho on Thursday.

He would also do well to turn Chelsea’s season around – the Blues sit in sixteenth place in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone.

The other major candidate to take charge until May is ex-Tottenham manager Juande Ramos, with Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone being touted as long term replacements for Mourinho.
