Chelsea face difficult task of tying down Loftus-Cheek

Chelsea’s hierarchy are growing increasingly concerned they might not be able to tie down youngster, Ruben Loftus-Cheek to a new deal due to Jose Mourinho’s treatment of him according to the Telegraph.

The 19-year old midfielder is the latest prodigy to emerge from the club with brief cameos in th first team as the West London club searches for an academy graduate to make first team.

Since John Terry developed into a starter at the club from the youth teams, few players have had a sniff at first team football and Loftus-Cheek appeared to be the next gem the club has produced.

However, Mourinho’s tough love shown the former Barnsley player may have heightened the possibility of not being able to agree a deal before his current deal goes into its final year.

According to the Telegraph, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are closely monitoring the situation and could swoop for Loftus-Cheek, should he decide against staying put.

Mourinho gave assurances to Loftus-Cheek after the 3-1 defeat to Southampton but he has had only 45 minutes on the pitch since then and reports suggests he is very concerned about his growth at the club.

Reports also suggest club owner Roman Abramovich has made the development of Loftus-Cheek a personal project he wants to undertake as he desires to see the youth blooded in the first team squad.
