According to the Mirror, Chelsea have joined the race to sign Southampton’s Sadio Mane in January.
The 23-year old has been on the radar of the Senegalese forward and his performance in Southampton’s 3-1 victory over Chelsea served a reminder to the Champions of his qualities.
The former Red Bull Salzburg winger has however been pursued by Manchester United since last summer despite the Saints’ denial that they were in talks with United.
Southampton believes the Red Devils failed to follow up their interest in the 23-year old.
Mane who signed a new four-year deal with Southampton last year has three years left on his contract and will be good alternative to Chelsea’s main striker Diego Costa per sources close to the club.
Nonetheless, Mane is expected to be served an improved deal by Southampton after he has emerged a key figure for the club scoring six times in 17 appearancs this season.
