Who should Mourinho drop for Aston Villa?

It has been well documented that Chelsea have been struggling most recently with their form. Currently sat 16th in the Premier League table, is something very hard to take for a Chelsea fan especially after 4 defeats from 8 games.

The players have come out and back Jose saying they believe in him, but it’s not only down to him – the players are supposed to prove themselves on the pitch and on this occasion, at this time of the year. It is hard to say it but as a Chelsea fan I must admit that some of the Chelsea players are no longer able to deliver what Jose Mourinho wants them to deliver, simply because some of them are burned and tired mentally.

Here are the players Jose Mourinho needs to drop against Aston Villa.

Branislav Ivanovic: I think we all agree on this choice. He has been solid since he joined from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2008, but just hasn’t been at the races so far this season. It looks like he just hasn’t got it in him anymore and this quite clear. Last season he was one of the best defenders in the Premier league and his physical shape usually helps him defend really well.

Chelsea have a policy of not keeping players over the age of 30, but instead to give them in some cases a one year extension like they did with John Terry. Jose Mourinho really wanted to keep Ivanovic this season but it is quite fair to say that his time at Chelsea has come to an end. If he goes, we will never forget what he did for us in Napoli that night.

John Terry: No matter what he does, he will always be a living legend for the club. He is pretty much in the same situation as his fellow teammate Ivanovic, he was the only player last year not be dropped a single time and played every single game of the season in all competitions.

However this term, and most recently last Saturday, he was at fault for one of the Southampton’s goal in the loss. Terry’s return didn’t even reinforce the defensive shield. At 34 years of age, I think he’s done with the team and should have a place within the coaching setup or as Jose’s assistant. Every Chelsea fan is grateful for what he did for the team over the last 15 years.

Ramires: This term except from the stunning goal against Newcastle at St Jame’s Park, the Brazilian has been very poor. Some people may argue he has only just come back after a long battle with injury, but that doesn’t justify his very poor form. He didn’t perform very well either against Southampton, where he was meant to cover the midfield.

Loic Remy: I don’t even know what to write about him. I can still recall he saved us last season once or twice where he came off the bench and scored (can’t exactly remember which game it was). Apart from this, he has been quite absent and has scored one goal in six appareance this season which is quite poor for a striker who accepted the challenge of getting a place on the pitch alongside Diego Costa and Falcao. He is also one of the players who’s been left out when the team travelled to Porto.

John Obi Mikel: I will never understand what makes Jose Mourinho want to keep him? Ok, he has been part of the team that won multiple trophies in the last few years including the Champions League. He only really appears in the last 10 min of games and sometimes he is not even on the bench. He was given the chance to go Turkey and Dubai last season and I think he should have gone there, he is only 29 years of age and this would help him fulfil his potential as a creative midfielder, something he hasn’t done with the Blues.
