Mata: Chelsea will end up fighting for the title

Our beloved Juan who now wears red has had his say on Jose and the current predicament Chelsea find themselves in. The two time Chelsea player of the season enjoyed one week at the top of the table with Manchester United before getting thumped 3-0 by Arsenal at the weekend.

While he was at Chelsea the team suffered 2 extraordinary seasons, the first finishing 6th in the table but winning the FA Cup and Champions League in that ‘epic encounter in Munich, the other winning the Europa League after crashing out of the Champions League group stages.

Jose came back to the club in Mata’s third season at the club and was deemed surplus to requirements with Oscar taking his place, and Mourinho telling Mata he needed to adjust to a wider position to keep his place. In January 2014 Juan was sold to Manchester United for a tidy fee of £37.1 million.

Mata never really spoke of Jose when he left and has always been professional when the two sides have met. But while on international duty with Spain he seems to have opened up about his former manager and team.

Mourinho is not the most incredible character I have met in football. There are lots of other characters in football, although not as well known. The reporters in England always say he keeps them busy with work. I imagine that is good for them.

Chelsea are going through a surreal situation. It is something that will not last long. They do not have a squad to be where they are. In the Premier League, we have seen teams make up gaps of 10 points in two months. I believe Chelsea will come out of this situation soon. I would not even discount that they will end up fighting for the title.
