Pedro and Falcao to miss Champions League opener

Chelsea TV have confirmed that Pedro will miss our Champions League opener against Maccabi Tel Aviv tomorrow night while Mourinho also confirmed in his press conference at Cobham earlier today that Radamel Falcao will also miss the game.

During training today, Pedro suffered a small muscular injury and Chelsea TV confirmed a short time ago that he won’t be available for tomorrow’s game. At the moment the extent of the injury can’t be confirmed so he could return for Saturday’s London derby vs Arsenal.

Pedro may have been rested anyway as Mourinho told the media earlier he will be a making few changes to the side which played against Everton. However if he is to miss any further games it will certainly be a blow.

The Spaniard started his Chelsea career in the perfect way scoring a goal and then later assisting one in our first and only win of the season against West Brom. In his second game against Crystal Palace, Pedro again set up another goal. His cross from the wing was found by Falcao who headed the ball into the back of the net.

Radamel Falcao is another player who will miss tomorrow’s game. Mourinho confirmed earlier today he has a small tendon injury. The Colombians injury is only minor though and our manager expects him to be available for selection for Saturday’s game.

This is a shame as Falcao has looked a bit better in recent games, scoring his first Chelsea goal was a relief for the striker and he should be feeling more confident. Tomorrow night would of been a good chance for the Colombian to have a good run out and impress to try and rediscover his Porto and Atletico Madrid form. However this opens the door for out of favour Loic Remy who may now start unless Mourinho sticks with Diego Costa.
