De Bruyne: I spoke to Jose only twice

Kevin De Bruyne has admitted he only spoke to Jose Mourinho twice while his spell at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian is back in England by signing for Manchester City from Wolfsburg, for a reported fee transfer of £54M having failed to impress for Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho has always insiste, the Belgian didn’t show any desire to fight for this place on the pitch. Kevin De Bruyne decided to reflect once more on his relationship with the Portuguese manager and said:

I only talked with him twice. That was before the Champions League game against Basel, where he said I was doing better, in his opinion and that I would get my chance. I think that was maybe November. And then one week before January, that’s the day I said I wanted to go out because even if I was training better, I was not getting any minutes. So for me personally, it was better to go.

Despite the difficult situation, he went elsewhere where he eventually impressed because he was named Bundesliga player of the year for the season he has had. However, De Bruyne warned other people  that they should forget about his past at Chelsea and look at him today because he has grown and is a total different player now. He added:

You can’t compare with me two years ago at Chelsea. It’s a different situation and I am a completely different person than I was then. I was 19 when I signed and then worked with three managers and just didn’t play that much. I had come from Werder Bremen, where I played every second, so the difference was huge. I wasn’t even on the bench.
