After a poor start, it’s time to take some risks

When things are going wrong the last thing you would expect is the situation becoming worse. News has trickled down to every corner of the world that Thibaut Courtois will miss the next 2 months due to an injury sustained during international training. I would like to wish him a full and speedy recovery we definitely need the big man back as soon as possible to raise team morale.

Chelsea face a tough away fixture this weekend in the form of Everton and our defence has been porous while some of our big stars are just not showing up for the games. So what do we need to get out this predicament? I believe the answer is risk. We need to get out of our comfort zone and make some uncomfortable decisions. When you manage Chelsea it doesn’t matter if you have been tasked with rebuilding, results matter and I believe Mourinho’s greatest strength became his greatest weakness and led to some blunders he openly acknowledged.

Mourinho by default defends his players, especially senior players. Mourinho is the kind of manager that would defend players to the end of the world. The quickest way for anyone to get into the wrong books with Mourinho is to attack any player. This time he put faith in players who have failed to immediately bounce back and recover. Mourinho will always favour experience over youth but with senior players faltering it could be time to throw caution to the wind. I will focus on 4 senior players who need a break.

Branislav Ivanovic: I love the big guy, he has done so much for Chelsea and he is a legend in my books. He is the last person I would have ever expected to go through such a spell. He could be suffering from uncertainty over his career with his contract expected to come to an end at the end of this season. If a new contract is what it will take to get his mind back in the game I would give it to him but before we give him this contract I would bench him indefinitely. I propose Baba Rahman going in on left and Dave coming in on the right.

Cesc Fabregas: So comfortable on the ball, very handy to have a player with such vision right in front of the back four to start every attacking move then join the attack to make valuable key passes in the final 3rd, but we have seen none of this from him this season. I would start him on the bench next game. I suggest RLC.

Nemanja Matic: Everyone seems to be flying past him and when they don’t it’s because he has giving away a penalty or free kick in a dangerous position I would bench him and bring back Obi Mikel in the next game.

Eden Hazard: He played poorly for Belgium and was called the worst player despite scoring the winning goal. Hazard is now a senior member of our squad after 4 seasons with Chelsea. They say Bertrand Traore can dribble and has an eye for goal let’s see what he is made off.

Another problem we need solved is the number 10 issue we need Oscar back as soon as possible. Willian is not a number 10, so let’s kill that experiment and try something else.
