Jose: Chelsea have trained to shore up defense

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he had to take his side through defensive drills to patch up the rare leaky defense he has in the team as last season’s Premier League champions prepare to face Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Chelsea have conceded seven goals and two penalties this season after three Premier League games, with a draw, defeat and win against Swansea, Manchester City and West Brom respectively.

His side have also been reduced to 10 men twice this season with the latest coming at the Hawthorns as John Terry got sent off in the second half.

With the Blues constant pursuit of Everton’s John Stones all but ended after fourth bid of £37million was rejected and the absence of Terry in the side against Crystal Palace, Jose knows all too well the deficiencies in his side and has put the squad through some defensive exercises.

Yes, we did a few things. We did other tactical aspects to try and improve the team, but I didn’t just work the defenders. I worked the team.” he said.

You have to defend as a team. You cannot blame defenders for goals conceded. A team is a team. A good team defends as a team.
