Djilobodji set for Chelsea medical

Chelsea are closing in on a 4 year deal for Papy Djilobodji with the Senegalese travelling to London for a medical according to the Telegraph.

Mourinho wants to strengthen his defensive options and it’s understood Chelsea have agreed a £2.7 million fee with French side Nantes.

The 26 year old is versatile and can play in either central defence or defensive midfield.

“The 26 year old is being signed as a stop-gap before Chelsea launch new bids for John Stones and Paul Pogba, either in January or next summer.”

Matt Law, Telegraph writer.

After Chelsea have failed to sign John Stones from Everton, Chelsea have considered other options such as Ezequiel Garay from Zenit and Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao. However it now looks like Chelsea could sign Djilobodji for the short term.
