Chelsea have made an enquiry about Athletic Bilbao’s young French centre back Aymeric Laporte. The Spanish club responded by saying Chelsea must meet his buyout clause of €50 million if they want to sign him according to Get French Football News.
The 21 year old made his debut for Bilbao in 2012 against Hapoel in the Europa League. He then had a break through year in the 2013/14 season and has featured regularly since. He made 33 appearances in La Liga last season.
Chelsea have conceded 9 goals so far this season and our defence has looked very poor compared to last season. At 21 Laporte would not only have an immediate impact, he could become a big part in our future and form a strong partnership with his fellow national team mate, Zouma.
However with less than 48 hours remaining in the transfer window, a deal looks unlikely.
