Mourinho to give Moses a chance

The Standard are reporting that Jose Mourinho to be give Victor Moses a chance next season, by including the Nigerian in the Premier League champions’ first team squad for the 2015/16 season.

Since the Portuguese manager returned to Stamford Bridge, Moses hasn’t played for the Blues. Instead, the ‘happy one’ loaned out in two consecutive seasons, to Liverpool and Stoke City respectively.

Three years ago, Moses joined the Chelsea from Wigan in a deal worth a valued £9m. This season, he was expected to be either loaned out, or sold, but this seems not to be the case.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes has already confirmed that the ex-Crystal Palace winger won’t be returning to the Britannia Stadium for next campaign, because Mourinho wants him at Stamford Bridge.

Hughes said:

I think Chelsea have a view on Victor. What they’re thinking we believe is that they would possibly like to keep him. If they go into the market again that could change that idea.

“Victor obviously came to us last year and did exceptionally well for us. There were a couple of injuries that hampered him unfortunately, but he showed enough in his time with us that it made Chelsea very aware of the talent they have and what Victor could offer. It could be that Victor now plays a part at Chelsea.”

In the first team, Moses would be counted as home-grown player, something which is key in today’s game. Also, bringing Moses back brings in a tad more experience in someone who had a hand in Chelsea’s Europa League success.
