Chelsea close to completing Begovic signing

Despite a late scare from Manchester United, it appears that Chelsea will be winning the race for Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. The Potters have reportedly accepted an £8 million bid for their Bosnian goalkeeper.

According to Simon Johnson of the London Evening Standard, a four year agreement between Chelsea and the player has already been made worth £75,000-a-week.

After rejecting Chelsea’s initial £6 million bid, Stoke accepted the improved offer of £8 million for their number one. Yet, they still want one of Chelsea’s youngsters on loan as part of the deal.

Rumours suggest that the Potters will be interested in taking either Victor Moses, who spent last season at the Brittania, or highly rated youngster Patrick Bamford on loan.

The latter will come as a shock to many Chelsea supporters who believe that Bamford might have been ready for a role in the first team. However, I think that a loan to any Premier League club is exactly what the Englishman needs to improve his game after doing so well with Middlesbrough in the Championship last season.

It appears as though Asmir Begovic is prepared to become Thibaut Courtois’ backup next season at Stamford Bridge. Now, all we can do is wait for confirmation and see which Chelsea player will be included in the deal on loan.
