Cech out, Ox in?

With Petr Cech being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, former Chelsea player and assistant manager Ray Wilkins believes the Blues should attempt to get Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as part of the deal, if Cech is to make the move.

After the Chelsea goalkeeper stated his desire to stay in London earlier this week, it has been widely reported that Arsenal are extremely interested in signing the 33-year-old.

Whilst Blues boss Jose Mourinho would ideally like to sell Cech to a club outside the Barclays Premier League, he has previously hinted that should he sell the Czech Republic international to a Premier League rival, some form of swap deal would suit him.

And Wilkins, who was speaking on talkSPORT‘s ‘Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast,’ believes the young Arsenal winger would be a great fit.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is a really good footballer, and I’ve thought that for a while.

“He has had a lot of injuries but hasn’t really had a fair crack of the whip in staking his claim for selection. It would be a good fit if he were to go to Chelsea as part of the deal [for Cech].”

Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Arsenal for £12m in 2011, and has made 67 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners in an injury-ridden spell at the club.
