Cech agrees personal terms with Arsenal

Sky Sports have reported that Petr Cech is nearing an agreement with Arsenal over his transfer. Cech, 33, has finalized personal terms but Chelsea and Arsenal are yet to agree to a fee, but will continue negotiating this week.

The transfer fee is a reported £7 million cash, but sources say that Abramovic and Chelsea will be offering Cech £4 million as a bonus for his service throughout the years. If true, Chelsea would only net £3 million from the transfer, a low amount considering Cech’s ability.

Chelsea were apparently interested in receiving a home-grown player from Arsenal in return, such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but that has been removed from the deal, Sky reports.

Although Chelsea do not want Cech to move to a Premier League rival, his service and loyalty towards the club means that Mourinho and Abramovic are willing to grant his request.

Cech, who has one year left on his contract, fell behind Thibaut Courtois as the first-choice goalkeeper this season, and is desiring first-team football.

Jose Mourinho prefers that Petr Cech joins French clun Paris Saint-Germain, but will not stand in the way of any deal with Arsenal.

Metro reports:

Arsenal’s official photographer Stuart MacFarlane followed Petr Cech on Twitter yesterday which convinced many Gunners fans that a transfer was imminent. MacFarlane was later forced to deny he had any inside knowledge with regards to a possible move for the keeper.

Metro also claims that the fee is in fact closer to £10 million, with no player swap possible.
