Chelsea set to raid Atletico again

According to The Metro, Chelsea are set to reignite their interest in Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann. After acquiring both Diego Costa and Filipe Luis last summer, it is rumoured that Chelsea will try to grab another star. The article states that Chelsea are willing to activate his £43.5 million release clause.

The West London club was rumoured to be interested in the French international last summer, but Atletico swooped in to sign him. Chelsea have also been linked several times before for Madrid’s midfielder Koke, as well.

One could assume if the player were to join, he would compete with Willian and Juan Cuadrado for the spot on the right wing. Also, Griezmann can play as a number nine if needed. It is an interesting rumoured due to the fact Juan Cuadrado was just signed in January.

Antoine Griezmann has so far played 32 games for Atletico in La Liga, scoring 22 goals and grabbing an assist. This would likely be a big upgrade in the attacking sense from what Willian has done this season. If he could track back and adapt to the Mourinho style, it could be a special signing.

The likelihood of this deal is a medium possibility, but this deal would be one that would excite many Chelsea fans.
