Frank Lampard close to New York City FC move

Former Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is set to complete his move to New York City FC next week. Lampard has been without a club since he left Stamford Bridge at the start of June after 13 glorious years.

Stat Attack: Frank Lampard is Chelsea’s all-time top scorer (211) and the highest scoring midfielder in the Premier League history (171).

36-year-old midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs across the world since then, but itÂ’s reported that Lampard has been impressed by the clubs vision and has decided to accept an offer from NYCFC, which is part-owned by the Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour.

Lampard is expected to sign the contract next week; he will join up with David Villa who became the clubÂ’s first ever signing in early June.

However, the American league will not start until March 2015 and Lampard could spend some time with New York’s sister club Melbourne City FC over the next few months.

The England midfielder, who made only one appearance in 2014 World Cup, is yet to make a decision about his England future.
