Torres injury frustration

Jose Mourinho has revealed the extent of Fernando Torres’ most recent injury, which will leave him sidelined for Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa and the crunch second leg tie in the Champions League against Galatasaray.

The Spanish International picked up the groin injury while warming up for Saturdays 4-0 win against Tottenham, leaving Mourinho no choice but to shuffle his pack before a ball was kicked.

This latest injury has left Mourinho feeling very frustrated. Mourinho will almost certainly be looking to strengthen his attacking options during the summer, but to again be without the Spanish striker during this run in will be a major blow to the Special One.

“It’s a muscular problem and muscular problems, even when they are small is always a couple of weeks, said the Blues’ boss.

“I don’t know if it’s small or big. I suppose it’s small, but no scans in this moment. He has to go for scans for sure he’s out.”

Asked about Torres’ injury prone nature Mourinho said: “I don’t know. I don’t know. He had already two problems in both knees, both ligaments, but his recovery was very, very good, faster than what we expect.

“He had also a little muscular problem and now he’s having another one. Sometimes it happens.

“There are other players that it happens the same. There are others that they go a complete season without any single problem.”

Luckily the injury to Torres did not prevent Chelsea from winning the match comfortably, with striker Samuel Eto’o again coming up with the goods for the Blues at home to seal a 4-0 victory.
