Torres Return Boosts Blues

Chelsea have been handed a major boost for their title run with the news that Fernando Torres is back training.

The Spaniard has been out since the Manchester United clash with a knee injury, leaving Mourinho with only strikers Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o up front.

Chelsea’s midfield powerhouse of Oscar, Willian, Hazard and Matic have done the job in recent games for the Blues, but nonetheless the option of Torres will be welcome news to the Chelsea manager’s ears.

Chelsea confirmed, “The players resumed training on Wednesday following Monday nights win in Manchester, and the Chelsea cameras were there to show Fernando Torres back with the squad as they headed onto the Cobham pitch.”

It’s currently unclear as to when Torres will be available to play. Only during Mourinho’s Friday press conference will any details potentially be revealed.

However, the fact that he is training means he could potentially be a few weeks away from full match fitness and this would be a timely boost for Mourinho ahead of what is likely to be an exciting finish to the Premier league season.

Torres return is a boost

The £50 million pound target man has failed to replicate the form that saw him move from rivals Liverpool, and with only 19 goals in 99 appearances for the west London club, his numbers hardly justify such a fee.

This could yet be Torres’ season to shine for Chelsea if he manages to get a run of games and goals together and is able to fire Chelsea to the title.

This would go some way to repaying the faith shown in him by owner Roman Abramovich, and if anyone can get the best out of the Spaniard, it would be the Special One.
